Integrate into any architecture with flexible networking architecture.

L2/L3 networking: An L2/L3 architecture that leverages zone-based security enforcement, enables deployment into L2/L3 networks.

Dynamic routing: Support for OSPF, RIPv2 and BGP combined with full 802.1Q VLAN support is provided for both L2/L3, so that all services can be enabled without interfering with the existing routing or VLAN architecture.

Virtual Wire: Virtual Wire provides organizations with a true transparent mode by logically binding two ports together and passing all traffic to the other port without any switching or routing. Full inspection and control or all traffic is enabled with no impact on the surrounding devices. Multiple Virtual Wire pairs can be configured to support multiple network segments.

Identification and inspection of applications using IPv6.

Organizations who are beginning to investigate or migrate to an IPv6 infrastructure can deploy Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls in virtual wire, layer 2, or layer 3 mode and then apply the same set of firewall features to that traffic that can be applied to IPv4 traffic. IPv6-based applications, users and content can be classified, controlled, inspected, monitored and logged for applications, users and content.

Secure access for remote users through SSL-VPN.

NetConnect SSL-VPN provides remote users with an SSL-based connection to the corporate network. NetConnect users can be authenticated via local DB, RADIUS, LDAP, Active Directory and CAC card. NetConnect fully integrates with App-ID, User-ID and Content-ID, enabling full control and inspection of application activity, based on users and groups. NetConnect client support includes Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP and Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6.

Secure site-to-site connectivity through IPSec VPN.

Standards-based IPSec VPN connectivity combined with application visibility and control enables protected communications between two or more Palo Alto Networks devices or another vendor's IPSec VPN device.
