Xena’s Valkyrie 50GE Test Modules
With the IEEE standard for 50GE Ethernet approaching finalization, products have already started appearing. Like 25GE, 50GE will be used to link servers to data centers, and analysts are predicting both servers and high-performance flash storage systems will soon need speeds faster than 25GE.
To help accelerate product development, the 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium has made its 25GE and 50GE Ethernet specification royalty-free and open to all data center ecosystem vendors.
Being able to reuse 25GE components from existing 100GE networks should make 50GE cost-effective to implement. For example, 25GE cabling is about the same cost structure as 10GE while boosting performance by 250%. Similarly, 50GE is half the cost of 40GE, with a 25% increase in performance.
To help NEMs and Service Providers test new 50GB solutions, Xena already has the Loki-100G-5S-1P and Loki-100G-5S-2P test modules, with additional offerings soon to be released.
