1-100G Ethernet (NRZ)

Test. Improve. Repeat.

Xena Networks light logo

NRZ stands for “non-return to zero” – a mechanism used in serial communications that tracks the values being sent; therefore, an idle state, where all the bits are the same value, leaves the signal at the same level during the idle time. It has been used in Ethernet from speeds up to 100Gbps. The leap to 400Gbps saw the transition to pulse amplitude modulation (PAM).
