Valkyrie1564

Valkyrie1564 is a free PC application that lets you analyze synchronous Ethernet and perform the Y.1564 methodology using one or more Xena test chassis.

Core Features

Y.1564 is the ITU-T standard for turning up, installing and trouble-shooting Ethernet-based services. Formulated as an improvement over RFC2544, it is the only standard test methodology that allows for complete validation of Ethernet service-level agreement’s (SLAs) in a single test.

Valkyrie1564 provides full support for both the configuration and performance test types described in Y.1564. It is installed together with ValkyrieManager and uses the same terminology. The simple intuitive GUI makes it easy to connect one or more ValkyrieCompact and/or ValkyrieBay chassis for testing Layer 2 and Layer 3.

You can define multiple Ethernet services and organize them in a custom folder hierarchy. Valkyrie1564 supports different network topologies and traffic flow directions, and can be used for either IPv4 or IPv6.

Via Valkyrie1564, you can define the protocol layers supported by each UNI (Ethernet, Customer and Service VLANs, MPLS, IP and UDP) as well as defining either per-UNI or per-CoS bandwidth profiles for each UNI, plus you can specify CoS-to-DSCP mapping.

Test reports can be generated in both PDF and XML format and there are extensive configuration options for fine-tuning the tests.

Valkyrie1564 Top Features:

  • Full configuration and performance testing according to Y.1564
  • Complete validation of Ethernet service-level agreements (SLAs) in a single test
  • Multiple protocols supported per UNI (Ethernet, Customer and Service VLANs, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, and UDP)
  • Define Per-UNI or per-CoS bandwidth profiles, and specify CoS-to-DSCP mapping
  • Support for different network topologies and traffic flow directions
  • Easy execution and results parsing from automated scripting environments

 Valkyrie1564 Specifications

Committed Information Rate (CIR) Defines the maximum transmission rate for a service where the service is guaranteed certain performance objectives. These objectives are typically defined and enforced via SLAs.
Excess Information Rate (EIR Defines the maximum transmission rate above the committed information rate considered as excess traffic. This excess traffic is forwarded as capacity allows and is not subject to meeting any guaranteed performance objectives (best effort forwarding).
Reporting Reports are available in PDF and .xml format
Supported hardware All Xena testers and all port speeds from 10/100/1000M, 10G, 40G, and 100G.

Xena1564 ethernet service starter

Xena offers a choice of two chassis 1U and 4U that can be equipped with an extensive range of copper and optical Gigabit Ethernet test modules supporting all Ethernet speeds 1GE, 2.5GE, 5GE, 10GE, 25GE, 40GE, 50GE, 100GE, 200GE and 400GE.

The chassis and test modules are controlled via Xena’s ValkyrieManager, a Windows GUI client provided for ad-hoc test execution, and remote management of test equipment located in multiple locations. Also included are standalone applications for automated RFC 2544, Y.1564, RFC 2889 and RFC 3918 testing.

Finally, an open TCP/IP-based text API lets users automate testing from any software environment, using Tcl, Python, Perl, VBA and Java wrappers to convert to/from the generic Xena Command Line Interface (CLI) format.

The Xena Networks test equipment can handle the widest range of lab-based test scenarios – performance testing, functional testing, QoS and so on – with a minimum of fuss.

Pricing is considerably lower than the industry leaders – especially when you factor in our policy of including 3 years’ free software upgrades and HW warranty, plus free training and tech support

Xena is repeatedly praised for being user-friendly. The hardware is easy to install and configure, and the intuitive software really does make life simpler for test engineers

Valkyrie reflects its Scandinavian roots – a quality product loaded with smart “no-fuss” features that delivers great value, from a company that sincerely cares about customer satisfaction.

Why choose Valkyrie?

Valkyrie is a full-featured Layer 2-3 stateless traffic generator and analysis platform. It is used to configure and generate Ethernet traffic at all speeds up to 400GE, and analyze how network devices and services, perform in response, making it perfect for most lab-based data-plane test scenarios.
